Current Page AI Assistant

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 14, 2026

Current Page AI Assistant, also branded as Read less, helps users summarize the active web page and ask questions about that page from inside Chrome. This policy explains what data the extension uses and how it is handled.

The extension is designed for one purpose: generating page-aware summaries and answers when the user requests them.

Data We Handle

  • Website content: text from the active page may be read when the user clicks summarize, asks a question, or opens Page Chat.
  • Web page information: the active tab title and URL may be used to show the current page and provide context for answers.
  • Authentication information: if the user enters an AI provider API key, the extension stores it locally in Chrome storage.
  • User questions: questions typed into the popup or Page Chat are used to generate answers about the active page.

How Data Is Used

Data is used only to provide the extension's core features: summarizing the current page, answering user questions, opening the page chat interface, and saving user settings.

AI Providers

When the user requests a summary or answer, the relevant page text and question may be sent to the AI provider configured in the extension, such as OpenAI, OpenRouter, or Google Generative Language. These requests are necessary to generate the requested AI response.

Local Storage

Settings such as the API key, selected model, provider endpoint, and recent page context may be stored locally using Chrome storage. This information is used only to operate the extension.

Data Sharing and Sale

We do not sell user data. We do not use user data for advertising, credit decisions, lending, or unrelated purposes. Data is shared only when required to provide the requested AI functionality through the user's selected AI provider.

Remote Code

The extension does not execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly. It may make HTTPS requests to AI API endpoints to receive text responses.

User Control

Users can remove stored extension data by clearing the extension's settings in Chrome, removing the API key from the extension, or uninstalling the extension.
